Delegation is a major part of a manager’s role in achieving performance goals through other people. It is, however, a skill that, in many cases, is poorly practised. On the face of it delegation should be simple, a matter of common sense, but given the increasingly complex nature of modern organisations the process of delegation can be fraught with difficulties, while the cost of getting it wrong can be very high indeed.
The aim of this course is to help managers master the art of delegation and to learn how to empower staff to perform at a higher level.
The course will provide delegates with a clear explanation of what delegation is, when delegation is appropriate and when it is not, and some rules and guidelines to ensure that it is successful.
Secondly, we will look at empowerment and how companies and departments can change their culture and structure to develop a workforce that maximises its potential.
Delegates will have ample opportunity to discuss their own delegations and a series of exercises and role-plays will help consolidate the skills learned.
