Ocean Learning has been designing and delivering learning solutions to
businesses in Europe and America since 2003.
We believe that learning interventions (courses, workshops, coaching or
e-learning) work best when they have been designed with a specific audience in
mind and with clear behavioural objectives.
That is why every one of our programmes is adapted to meet the specific needs
of delegates and the client.
We invest a great deal of time in the design process - writing new materials,
researching new cases and creating activities and games that will bring learning
to life for all participants.
Every intervention that we deliver has been designed to be enjoyable and
engaging, but above all, they have been designed to be useful.

When you decide to work with Ocean Learning, we will take great care to
prepare a really effective learning experience for you.
Our design process has been proven to be robust over many years and many
projects to deliver relevant and engaging learning experiences
We do this by:
1. Identifying Key Business Objectives
Our primary focus is to identify what job the training or coaching needs to do
for your business. That is, we seek to identify the specific results that you are
hoping to achieve and to state clearly what that result may look like over a
period of time.
For example, a recent project with a London based publisher client revolved
around negotiation skills. The client knew that they wanted their editors and
department heads to become more effective negotiators. Market conditions
were challenging and revenues from circulation and advertising were under
pressure, and the publisher had to take a close look at the costs (particularly
discretionary costs).
During the early stages of our meetings with them, we helped to identify the
particular costs that editors had control over and which represented a
potential cost saving. We identified a specific target for savings. We identified
who had the primary responsibility for making the savings and we identified
exactly where the savings (i.e. what type of suppliers) needed to be made.
2. Identifying the Key Skills and Knowledge Sets
By identifying and prioritising the core competencies that require a change in
order to meet the goals, we are able to create a clear set of learning
objectives based not only on the results required, but also on the behaviours
that need to be demonstrated to achieve those results.
This involves mapping key competencies and identifying specific changes in
skill sets that the training must deliver.
3. Creating a Learning Plan
We will create a detailed learning plan that will state precisely how we will
address the training needs. This plan will combine the best of our existing
programmes with your specific needs. Every programme becomes a tailored
experience without the time and cost of completely re-inventing the wheel.
4. Content Creation
In addition to our existing, proven content, we will create cases, exercises and
support notes that reflect the culture and needs of your business. Once again,
this allows us to generate relevant and useful content without the time and
cost implications of generating everything from scratch.
5. Delivery
All our learning interventions are delivered by experts, not only in the topic,
but in delivery. Delegates can expect to be fully engaged throughout and to
be encouraged to test their new - found skills in a safe and supported
environment. The learning experience should always be content rich,
motivating and relevant.
6. Review
We always seek to help both delegates and client to reflect on their learning
experience and to review the content and delivery of the programme. We
also encourage them to measure the impact that the training has had on
their working lives.
